Mission Moment: How Can I Help?
URGENT NEED FOR GIFTS TO UMCOR:
Due to to so many disasters across the world in the last few months, UMCOR is in need of contributions in order to keep up. The flooding situations in Montana have brought help from UMCOR and other agencies. Now the flooding in North Dakota, particularly Minot, has brought more needfor help and UMCOR is there. Rev. Lee Gale, disaster response coordinator for the Dakotas Conference reported that Faith UMC is being covered with flood water. Congregants met at the church, acknowledging they will lose their building. They had a prayer on the front step before the water got too deep and then went off to help with evacuations and checking on people. It will be four to six weeks before residents can return to flooded areas of Minot. Gale said 11,000 families have evacuated the city and those numbers continue to grow. Please consider a special gift to UMCOR now. The check can be made out to the Laurel United Methodist Church with the memo line marked for UMCOR flooding relief.
