On April 29, 2012 the LUMC will be observing Native American Sunday with a special offering and a special guest speaker, Barry Beach.

If the name sounds familiar it's because Beach was featured heavily in the news at the end of 2011 and early 2012 when he was released from prison after 29 years when new evidence surfaced in his case. He was released from prison pending a new trial.

Beach is Cherokee from North Carolina and Sioux from Montana, but he was raised on the Fort Peck Reservation here in Montana. He says his native spirituality and his faith in God have seen him through all of this and he now wants to share his story with others of coming to Christ.

It's a Sunday not to be missed, we hope to see you there!

After a year long effort and 18-weeks of classes, the time for the 2012 Confirmation Class to be officially confirmed into the church has arrived.

The Confirmation Service will be included in Worship on Sunday, April 15, 2012. We hope you will join us as twelve of our youth confirm their faith and officially join the Laurel United Methodist Church.

This is such a special time and we are so proud of each of these young ladies and gentlemen. Congratulations to the 2012 Confirmation Class!

December 19th marks the fourth Sunday in Advent. Our reading/scripture pick from today's Worship Service was:

      For a child has been born for us, a Son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named wonderful counselor,
mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His authority shall grow continually, and there shall be endless peace
for the throne of David and his kingdom.
He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness
from this time onward and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will do this.
                  -Isaiah 9:6-7

As you light the fourth candle:

We light this candle as a symbol of the Prince of Peace.
May the visitation of your Holy Spirit, O God,
make us ready for the coming of Jesus, our hope and joy...
      O come, O come Emmanuel

Selected Readings from Sunday, December 19, 2010 Worship Service:

            Micah 5:2-5a
            Luke 1:26-38

Even with the C-O-L-D weather and terrible roads, the pews were not left to fend for themselves. It was wonderful to see everyone in church today; especially since we were gifted with a baptism and a new member during Worship. We'd like to extend a special welcome the Fischer family, and thank you for allowing us to be your church family!

The selected readings from the November 21, 2010 Worship Service were:

                    Luke 6:27-38
                    Luke 9:18-27

If you don't always take the time to look up the verses - this week I would. These particular verses will give you lots to think about.

This year LUMC will be hosting the Community Thanksgiving Worship Service on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Do you enjoy singing? Perhaps you've been wanting to lend your voice to the choir, but haven't wanted to get up that extra hour early to attend practice on Sunday mornings? Well, then here's your chance! If you arrive to the church at 5:00 p.m. on the 21st, then you can practice with the choir and sing with them during the service.
